The Balancing Act

SEO seems to be a confusing concept for a lot of businesses, yet it is one of the key aspects that digital marketeers focus on.

Having a digital footprint is a necessity today. Being ranked high on search engines therefore becomes a priority.

Let’s explore some basics of web design that will get you to shine a little brighter when Google comes looking for a star in your field or industry.

SEO is best done in partnership with web design, and improving your web design isn’t hard.

Four easy steps to make your website SEO friendly

Here are some basic pointers to keep in mind when you’re making an SEO friendly website.

Mobile friendly website

This has become a standard requirement for a professional website. The number of people searching on desktops has been declining for some time now.

As a result, Google made mobile-friendliness a ranking factor more than 5 years ago. The search giant then introduced mobile-first indexing in 2017.

Google ranks mobile friendly websites much higher as a result.  So we cannot stress enough that your website should be optimized for tablets and phones.

Create good content

Creating great content that can be used to earn inbound links during off-page optimization strategies. Other websites or internet users typically tend to share good content.

If your content is relevant and interesting, it’s easier to have other websites refer/link back to you.

Readability

You need something that’s clean, easy to navigate, and that can quickly give website visitors the information they want. You need to have your communication crisp and pertinent to the topic at hand.

Typically this makes the website just seem more trustworthy.

Website speed

Page speed is a known ranking signal, so you need to speed up your site by optimizing your images, eliminating unnecessary plugins, allowing browser caching, and so on.

Page speed is not only important to users, but it’s also important to Google. The speed of your website affects Google’s ability to crawl it.

If your page speed causes Google to crawl fewer pages, you won’t have as many pages getting indexed.

If you follow these simple steps, your website will help rather than hinder your SEO. Excal Design is one of the leading SEO companies in the Chicagoland area. We are also highly rated amongst WordPress web design companies.
